Merijn van den Ende

What do Mendocino
and Liberia

have in common?

If you answered "waves" you're right!

What do cats & waves have in common?

If you answered "Merijn van den Ende" then you're right again.
I met Merijn's mother Anya van Ditmarsch on Russian Hill earlier this month when I walked by her gallery. She lives above the gallery and opens by appointment as she is also a realtor for Zephyr in San Francisco. Currently some of Merijn's paintings are on view and for sale. The green leopard above came home with me. According to the artist, many of the paintings are the result of living in Liberia (West Africa) for ten years with "3 brothers, 1 sister, 6 dogs, 1 pygmy hippo and two cats in a large 2 story house, with a garden bordering on the beach. My mother ran a veterinary hospital on the first floor. Practically every day my brothers and I surfed the waves opposite our house." Merijn currently lives in Delft, Netherlands but to see his work in the Bay Area you may contact Anja at 415/203-3815. Proceeds go to aid in Liberia.

you cannot begin to imagine how i'm lusting after your leopard!! just tried to watch 'passion in the desert' upon recommendation, but it was too nerve-wracking & couldn't finish it. phenomenal footage of man interacting with 'beast', though. miss you, and will call soon. love, p
